This week on Pace The Nation, I reconnected with an old friend, Craig Vanderoef. We talked about Pacers partnership with his company, Sound Running, the apparel line we are building together.
Before I get into this week's blog, I want to say - I am not big into stretching. I should be. I know I’d be a better runner if I did, but I just have never consistently added it to my workout routine. I am lucky I've stayed healthy as I have with the little stretching I do.
Ok, so with that out of the way…
This week on Pace The Nation, I reconnected with an old friend, Craig Vanderoef. We talked about Pacers partnership with his company, Sound Running, the apparel line we are building together - well really, Craig is building it. We are the distribution partner helping market the product and tell the story. This is another very cool step in our journey to provide solutions for runners - and I think it is pretty freaking exciting to try hard things like building an apparel line. It may fail and chances are it will. The stuff that stretches our limits, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. The key to me is to hit more than you miss.
Our COO, Kelly O’Cadiz asked the Pacers Running leadership team to read Measure What Matters by John Doerr. In the book, there is an important lesson about having a “stretch goal”. According to Doerr, if you are running your business (or life) with goals that you are hitting more than 70% of the time, you are not setting your sights high enough. Greatness is born outside of the comfort zone, and I 100% subscribe to that line of thinking.
So today - you can visit our website and shop the unique apparel line from Pacers and Sound Running. Sure... it's only a hat, a sweatshirt, and a pair of shorts - check back in a year and see where we are then. I know it will be hard to grow into this very competitive space, but this is a stretch goal, so what the heck. Let’s see where this goes - and either way, if it goes somewhere or not, I’ll commit to relearning how to touch my toes.
